There’s something truly special about tamale season in New Mexico — the laughter in the kitchen, the smell of red and green chile filling the air, and the joy of making something delicious together by hand. This holiday season, join us for our Tamale Making Classes at Big Jim Farms, where warmth, tradition, and community come together.

Each class is a cozy, hands-on experience where you’ll learn to make tamales from scratch — from preparing the masa to filling, wrapping, and steaming. You’ll take home a dozen tamales you’ve made yourself, along with recipes, new skills, and a heart full of New Mexico flavor.

This holiday season, we're inviting all little crafters to get hands-on at our Christmas Tree Farm and create festive treasures that will make the season even more special! With twinkling lights, fresh pine scents, and a cozy, cheerful atmosphere, it's the perfect place for kids to unleash their creativity.

For just $8 per child, your little one will get all the supplies, step-by-step guidance, and plenty of help to bring their holiday craft to life. We’ll be there every step of the way to make sure they have the best time—and go home with a festive masterpiece!

 Bring your little elves for a fun-filled, festive day of cookie decorating! We'll have yummy, homemade Christmas cookies ready for your kiddos to get super creative with all kinds of colorful decorating supplies! 🎨🎅 We’ll even make the frosting from scratch right on-site, mixing up beautiful, vibrant colors.

Each child will decorate delicious homemade biscochito cookies to take home and enjoy. Plus, while they’re getting creative, they’ll have the chance to explore our farm and make new friends along the way. 🐐✨ It’s the sweetest way to kick off the holiday season—come join us for a day of magic, fun, and frosting-filled memories!

 Get ready for a hands-on, flavorful adventure at Big Jim Farms! Wander through our fields to pick fresh tomatoes, peppers, cilantro, blue corn, and more—then head to our outdoor kitchen to create your very own salsa and chips from scratch!

Whether you like it spicy or mild, roasted or chopped, the choice is yours! You’ll even grind your own blue corn to make crispy tortilla chips. 

For just $35 per person, you’ll take home your delicious homemade salsa in a mason jar, plus all the memories of this fun, farm-fresh experience.

 Immerse yourself in the beauty of our fields at Big Jim Farms, where you'll handpick vibrant sunflowers, zinnias, marigolds, and cosmos to create your own floral masterpiece. In a guided workshop, you'll learn the art of flower arranging, choosing from a variety of blooms and embellishing your creation with craft paper, ribbon, and complementary fillers.

This experience offers a wonderful opportunity to learn the basics of floral design, as well as growing and harvesting tips for New Mexico flowers. With stunning views of the Sandia Mountains and scenic farm fields, our workshop is perfect for individuals, friends, couples, or family outings.

 Ready to spice up your life? Come join us at Big Jim Farms for a fun-filled workshop where you'll craft your very own Red Chile Ristra! For just $40, you’ll get all the supplies, fresh red chile, and a beautiful ristra to take home.

It’s a hands-on, flavorful experience you won’t want to miss. Whether you're a local or just visiting, this is the perfect way to dive into New Mexico’s iconic culture.

 Get ready for an outdoor adventure like no other! Bring your students to Big Jim’s Kids Farm, where they’ll dive into hands-on learning activities across our beautiful farm.

From exploring our fields to getting their hands dirty, your students will love every moment as they discover the journey from “seed to mouth” through exciting STEM-based stations. It’s a fun-filled day where their curiosity leads the way, and they’ll gain a deeper understanding of how food is grown and produced!

This breast cancer awareness month, enjoy an amazing farm-to-table dinner that supports women with breast cancer in our community.

Our seasonal Farm Dinner series sold out, so we've added one more evening this October in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This special benefit dinner supports Radiant Healing Together, a New Mexico nonprofit walking alongside women through every stage of breast cancer.

Enjoy everything guests love about our Farm Dinners: a thoughtfully curated 4-course farm-to-table dinner by Executive Chef Richard Padilla, featuring seasonal, locally sourced ingredients paired with wines from Sheehan Winery.

You'll dine among our U-pick fields, surrounded by green chile, blooming flowers, and the golden glow of the farm at sunset, while live acoustic music drifts through the evening.

Chef Richard brings more than 15 years of culinary experience and has led kitchens at premier New Mexico destinations, including Hotel Albuquerque and The Inn & Spa at Loretto. He is known for thoughtful dishes rooted in sustainability, community, and New Mexico's agricultural traditions.

About Radiant Healing Together
Founded in Albuquerque in 2022, Radiant Healing Together has grown into a community of about 1,600 women affected by breast cancer. Each year, RHT offers nearly 500 classes and gatherings in nutrition, yoga, meditation, research, and emotional support, so no woman has to face diagnosis, treatment, or life after cancer alone. Here in New Mexico, RHT hosts free breast cancer brunches with interpretation and childcare, so mothers and Spanish-speaking women can attend, as well as free “Weekend of Hope” retreats for women living with Stage IV breast cancer. This October, your evening at the farm turns awareness into real support for women in our community.

Each ticket includes:

Tickets are $150 per guest, and $50 of every ticket goes directly to Radiant Healing Together.

 Photographers, book Big Jim Farms as your background for your client photos! Every season offers a beautiful new backdrop. From vibrant sunflower fields, zinnias, marigolds, and cosmos to green chile fields and our pumpkin patch, there's always something in bloom to make your photos stand out.

This reservation is a location use fee only for professional photographers bringing their own clients to Big Jim Farms. 

No photographer is provided or included with this reservation.

 Photographers must book this session to use the farm as a photography location for their clients.

 Each reservation includes 1 hour of access for $50 and is valid for one photographer and one client group (family, couple, or individual).
