Bugs Join our class to learn about specific bugs and how they help the farm. You will have the chance to learn about insects, their lifecycle, and a creative craft! Earthworms Earthworms are useful friends to our farm! In this fun class you will be able to interact with live earthworms, learn their body parts, learn about their habitat, and create your own worm house to take home! Soil Soil is a very important lesson to farmers. You will have a chance to touch and learn different soil types and which works best for specific crops. You’ll be able to test the temperature of compost. The most exciting part of this class is that we will create a compost bin for you to take home! Animals There are many farm animals in and around Big Jim Farms. Come and see our goats, chickens, turkeys, dogs, and many more. We will have a lesson to discuss what on a farm is living and nonliving things, discover which animals have live babies vs being born in an egg, and we'll also learn about the animals' habitats. Students will create a habitat for a BEE to take home! Pumpkin/Fall Fun The season has changed and it’s time to enjoy autumn! We will learn the parts of the pumpkin, how to cook the seeds, and how to prepare a pumpkin bar recipe! Children will enjoy decorating their own pumpkin after they pick from the field and have a great day learning about jack-o’-lantern traditions. Most importantly, your students will understand how their pumpkin became the size it is. We will learn the lifecycle of a pumpkin, as well as, learning about planting seasons to grow pumpkins and all of the environment that it took to grow a beautiful pumpkin.
